Any grandparents here who play online with their grandkids?

My grandson is 11 and lives in Kaohsiung, I am in Taipei. He suggested we play a building game together online on weekends. I said yes before thinking.

Now I have questions. How do I talk to him while playing? Do I need a headset? Is it safe for him? And how do I stop him from destroying everything I build? Any experience welcome.
