Why do all new apartment buildings look the same now?

I am an architect in Valencia and I ask myself this every week. Grey cladding, same windows, same balconies. You could put the building in any European city and nobody would notice.

Is it the regulations? The cost? The developers? Or are we architects just lazy now? Do you see the same thing in your country? Any new buildings near you that you actually like?
