Coming back to gaming at 50 after a long break

I played a lot in my twenties, then work and kids happened and I stopped for the better part of two decades. My son left his old console behind when he moved out, so I've started again.

A few observations from someone who missed the middle years. Games are enormous now. Everything wants an account. Tutorials are much gentler, which I appreciate. And nearly every game wants me to come back every day, which I find a bit pushy, like a salesman who won't leave the shop.

But I'll say this: the good ones are really good. I didn't expect to feel what I felt at the end of the last story game I finished. Curious whether others here came back after a long gap, and what surprised you.
