How does hospitality LOSE 61k jobs during a World Cup?
Genuine question. The jobs report says leisure and hospitality shed 61,000 jobs in June, while the US was literally hosting World Cup matches. Goldman had forecast the tournament would add 40,000.
I work with data for a living and this feels like either a seasonal adjustment thing or the tournament boost just never showed up outside a few host cities. Anyone have a better explanation? Also the downward revisions of 74k for April and May are not nothing.
