M+, MoMA, Pompidou alliance with 'no money changing hands': what does it mean?
Serious question this time, no jokes. Okay, maybe one joke later.
The GONOM post says the three museums signed an alliance where no money changes hands, which is different from blockbuster touring shows and fee-based franchise models. I understand blockbuster shows. I understand franchises, a museum puts its name somewhere and gets paid.
But if nobody pays, what's the deal? They just lend each other paintings? Who pays for the shipping and insurance, which I imagine costs more than my whole life? Does anyone in the museum world know how this works in practice?
