4th of july cookout cost me way more than "inflation" says it should

So I'm hosting the usual cookout this weekend. Same menu as last year: burgers, dogs, corn, a couple of watermelons, beer. Same store too.

The receipt was painful. Every year the official inflation number sounds kind of mild and then I'm standing at checkout doing mental math. Is it just food running hotter than everything else or am I shopping wrong?
