I read my electricity bill line by line. Most of it is not electricity

Out of curiosity I went through last month's bill with a calculator. In Japan the bill includes the base charge, the energy charge in three tiers, a fuel cost adjustment, and a renewable energy surcharge.

For my household the actual per-kWh energy charge was a bit over half the total. The fuel cost adjustment moves every month with import prices of LNG, oil and coal, which explains why my bill changed even when my usage did not.

The renewable surcharge is the line people complain about the most, but on my bill it was smaller than the fuel adjustment. I would be interested to see how others' bills break down. Please post percentages, not just totals.
