Good climate books for someone who is NOT a scientist?

My book club picked climate as the theme for November and I've been volunteered to suggest titles!! Half the group are retirees, half are people from my office, nobody has a science background.

I want something readable, not doom-heavy, ideally with some hope in it! Fiction or non-fiction both fine. What actually changed how you think about this stuff?
