The Warhorse attack is a reminder of how exposed game studios are
I don't want to speculate about what was taken, because Warhorse hasn't said and the article is clear that nobody knows yet. But I keep thinking about how many studios are basically big targets now.
They hold unreleased projects worth hundreds of millions, employee data, partner contracts, sometimes player accounts. Warhorse has a Lord of the Rings RPG and a new Kingdom Come in the works, and even if neither was touched, it must be a horrible week for everyone there.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who works in security. Is the games industry especially bad at this, or just especially visible when it happens?
