GTA 6 is a 210GB download on PS5: the number, the source, and what is still missing
Grand Theft Auto 6 will take up 210GB of storage on PlayStation 5. GameSpot reported on 27 October that the figure, for the $80 standard edition, comes from the tracking account PlayStation Game Size; Eurogamer followed the next morning.
Preloading starts on 12 November, a week before the game's 19 November release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. GameSpot said the size of the $100 Ultimate Edition and the Xbox version had not been made available, though it expected Xbox to be similar.
“People will no doubt have to delete other content to fit the game on the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.” — GameSpot
India's Beebom said the 210GB figure also applies to the PS5 Pro, and pointed out that it comes from a third-party account rather than Rockstar. It added that, per reports, the review embargo lifts on 18 November and that review codes have already gone out, earlier than they did for Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
How each outlet framed it
- GameSpot — practical: how GTA 6 compares to other huge games, and the storage space players will need.
- Eurogamer — short and direct: a big game was always going to be a big download, and now there is a hard number.
- Beebom — the launch calendar around the number: preload, embargo and midnight release.
What we don't know yet: the Xbox Series X|S size and the Ultimate Edition size. Rockstar has not published either.
