Kolkata coverage: why did a Kenyan outlet have the updated toll?

Journalism student, so I'm looking at this from the reporting side.

The GONOM comparison for the Kolkata crush uses a Xinhua report via China Daily HK (17 dead, 35 injured) and Kenya's Citizen Digital (19 dead, 25 injured, citing a later statement from the state's chief minister). Neither is an Indian outlet.

My guess: both are running international wire copy at different times, and Citizen Digital simply published later, after the toll was revised. That's how a Nairobi site ends up with the 'newer' number on an Indian story. It shows how much international coverage depends on wire timing.

It also means the injured figure 'dropping' from 35 to 25 is likely about different hospital counts at different times, as the post says, not a correction of a mistake. Thoughts?
