First big trip outside Europe, where would you go?

I've saved for two years and want to go somewhere completely different from home. Flat fields and windmills are lovely but I want mountains, food I can't pronounce, a different alphabet maybe!

Budget is moderate, about three weeks in autumn. Where would you go and why? I'm open to anything.
