Climate Talk
Svalbard's tap water: is this really climate, or just geology?
I'm a nurse, so the manganese part caught my eye. 25 times the recommended limit is significant, and I'm glad they told people not to drink it.
But reading carefully, the post says the cause is suspected, not confirmed, and that SINTEF is still studying it. Pyrite in shale reacting with water and oxygen is geology. Permafrost thaw exposing it would be the climate link.
So my question is: how confident should we be in the climate framing at this stage? Some headlines sounded very certain. I don't doubt the Arctic is warming fast, I just want to know how much is proven here.
