Delivery driver's view on the BBC point: I see fuel in every price
The GONOM post said the BBC put the UK's September inflation rise mainly on petrol and diesel, more than the supermarket aisle. From where I sit, on a bike in Lagos traffic every day, this makes complete sense.
When fuel goes up, my delivery fee goes up or my earnings go down. The restaurants raise prices. The market women raise prices because their transport costs more. Everything moves together, almost on the same day.
To be fair, I think the NPR side is also important. Not everything is fuel. Some things jump for their own reasons. But in countries where most goods move by road, I think the fuel part is bigger than people in rich countries imagine.
