How do you talk politics with family without a fight?

Holidays are coming, and my family is very divided. My father and my brother don't speak for a day after every election.

I love them both and I hate the silence. Does anyone have real tips? Rules, topics to avoid, ways to cool things down? I'd love to hear what works in other countries and families.
