Do award shows still matter to anyone under 40?

I work in marketing, so award shows matter to me professionally. A win changes how a film or album gets sold. But personally I have not watched a full ceremony in years, and none of my younger colleagues have either.

What they do watch is the clips: a speech that goes viral, a performance, an outfit. The show itself has become a source of short videos rather than an event.

I am not sure if that is bad. Maybe the awards matter more than ever, just in a different form. Do you still watch the Oscars or the Grammys or your own country's version live? Or have you moved to highlights?
