First Asian solo artist OR first K-pop group member? Why not both!

As a mature-age journalism student this tiny difference made my whole week! Yonhap calls Lisa the first Asian solo artist to win best pop at the VMAs for 'Dream'. The Korea Herald says she's the first member of a K-pop group to get it.

Both can be true at once! But they tell different stories. One is about Asia, one is about K-pop. And Lisa is Thai, performing in a Korean group, which is exactly why the two framings exist!

This is the kind of thing my lecturers would make us write a 1,000-word essay about. I'm just thrilled to see it in the wild!
