Took my dad to Fallingwater and he cried a little (so did I)

My dad's a retired carpenter. He's never cared about 'architecture', he cared about whether a joint was square. For his 70th I drove him out to Fallingwater, the Frank Lloyd Wright house over the waterfall in Pennsylvania.

He went quiet on the terrace. Then he started running his hand along the stone and explaining to me how the cantilevers would've been formed, and how they had to fix them decades later because they were sagging. He knew more than the tour guide on that part honestly.

I'm an electrician, I don't have the words for it. It just felt like the house was built by people who cared. Anyone else have a building that got to them like that?
