onion price is my personal stock market

I am student chef. In my family we watch onion price more than any share price. When onion is cheap, everybody happy, my mother makes extra dishes. When onion is expensive, the whole house is serious, like a crisis meeting.

I think every country have one food like this. What is your onion?
