[Help] standing desk or just a better chair? ergonomics people weigh in

I work from home three days a week and my back has started filing complaints. I've read a lot of conflicting advice: some say standing desks are a game changer, others say standing all day is just a different problem.

Budget is limited, so it's probably one or the other. Things I care about: lower back, monitor height (laptop on a stack of books right now, I know), and not looking at a $700 piece of furniture I never use.

If you went either route, what actually made the difference?
