Switch 2 passes 19.86 million sold, and Nintendo raises its price in Japan, the US and Europe

Nintendo said on 8 May that Switch 2 has sold 19.86 million units since its June 2025 launch, beating its revised forecast of 19 million, Nintendo Life reported. Net sales for the year reached ¥2,313.0 billion, up 98.6%, and operating profit ¥360.1 billion, up 27.5%. Nintendo expects to sell 16.50 million Switch 2 units in the new fiscal year, a lowered forecast that Nintendo Life linked to price rises announced the same day.

In Japan the Switch 2 rises from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980 on 25 May, Game Informer said, and the original Switch models also go up by about ¥8,000 to ¥11,000. In the US, Canada and Europe only Switch 2 rises, from 1 September: to $499.99 from $449.99 in the US, C$679.99 from C$629.99 in Canada and €499.99 from €469.99 in Europe. Nintendo Switch Online prices also rise in Japan on 1 July. Gizmodo Japan led with the ¥10,000 jump to ¥59,980.

How each outlet framed it

  • Nintendo Life — sales and the lowered forecast, with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book (May), Star Fox (June) and Splatoon Raiders (July) on the slate.
  • Game Informer — the full price table and Nintendo's reason, “changes in market conditions”, noting the US standalone price now matches the Mario Kart World bundle.
  • Gizmodo Japan — the domestic angle: a 10,000-yen rise from 25 May.

What we don't know yet: Nintendo said price revisions are planned for other regions and a Switch Online rise in South Korea, without dates or details.
