[Help] Replacing my mum's 10-year-old laptop: Chromebook or a cheap Windows one?
My mum is 81 and still uses a laptop I bought her about ten years ago. It now takes several minutes to start and the browser keeps warning her it is out of date. She uses it for email, the news, video calls with the grandkids and online banking. That is genuinely all.
I'm leaning towards a Chromebook because there is less to go wrong and fewer pop-ups, but I worry about the bank's website or the printer not playing nicely. A budget Windows laptop would feel more familiar to her, but I know how cluttered those can be out of the box.
Anyone done this for an elderly parent? What did you choose and did they actually get on with it? Budget is modest, a few hundred dollars.
