BioWare closure: what's confirmed vs what we don't know (quick summary)
Trying to keep facts separate from speculation, based on the GONOM write-up and the sources it compares.
Confirmed: EA is closing BioWare and cancelling the Mass Effect game that was in early development. It's part of wider cuts: around 400 roles, a Sims-related project paused, the Skate team reduced, Respawn and DICE brought together. Dexerto, citing Bloomberg, puts around 50 of those roles at BioWare.
Context: it comes a few months after the $55bn buyout, which per Dexerto left EA with about $18bn of debt.
Not known: what happens to the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series themselves, and where most of the 400 job cuts land.
If you're affected or know people who are, I hope you're doing OK.
