PSA: how voting works in Australia (yes, there's a sausage)

Seen a few people here confused about compulsory voting so here's the quick version! In Australia you have to enrol and turn up, or you can get a small fine. You don't have to actually vote for anyone, you just have to get your name ticked off.

And the best part: lots of polling places are at schools, and there's usually a sausage sizzle out front raising money. The 'democracy sausage' is a genuine national institution! Ask me anything!
