japan rice update: 9 weeks of falling prices, quick summary
a few people asked about japanese rice prices back when it was all over the news, so here's the short version from the GONOM post.
supermarket average is now 3,873 yen per 5kg, down 60 yen in the latest week. ninth straight weekly drop. it first slipped under 4,000 yen in mid-march. wholesale fell too, the steepest monthly drop since 2006, but still 29% higher than a year ago.
the trade expects prices to keep falling for the next three months. so, good news, slowly.
