Anyone actually swapped an oil boiler for a heat pump? Honest reviews please

We're in a 1970s semi-detached in Ireland, oil boiler on its last legs, and the installer quotes for an air-to-water heat pump are... a lot. The grant helps but we'd also need to do insulation and probably bigger radiators.

I've read the arguments on both sides. Fans say it's cheaper to run and the future anyway. Others say older houses never get properly warm and the running costs depend on electricity prices.

I'd rather hear from people who've actually lived with one through a winter. Was it worth it? What do you wish you'd known before?
