Does anyone still read their local newspaper?

For a journalism class we had to interview people about where they get local news. Almost nobody under 40 said a newspaper. Most said Instagram, the neighbourhood app, or 'my mum tells me'.

What I find interesting is that when something happens in your town, the big outlets usually copy the local paper anyway. So if local papers disappear, who does the first reporting? I'm curious how it is in your countries. Do you pay for local news? Read it free? Not at all?
