PhD stipend vs rent. How are you surviving?

Toronto. Stipend hasn't moved much in years. Rent has.

I've got two roommates, I cook everything, I TA extra. Still tight.

Grad students elsewhere: what's it like? Is anywhere actually liveable on a stipend?
