Commission-only sales jobs need to be talked about more
I've been in sales in Melbourne for three years, mostly with a small base and big commission. I'm good at it, but some months I don't know if I'll cover rent until the last week.
The highs are great. The lows are really stressful, and I see lots of younger people take these jobs because the advertised "potential earnings" look amazing.
Not trying to scare anyone off. Just want to hear from others: how do you budget when your income swings every month? And is it like this where you live?
