Batch cooking for a family of four: my numbers after 3 months
I started batch cooking in January because our food spending was out of control and I'm home with two small kids. I tracked everything in a spreadsheet, because of course I did.
Sunday: 2.5 hours cooking, 5 main dishes, portioned into containers. Our weekly food spending went down around 20% versus the autumn. Food we throw away went from 'a lot' to almost nothing. Takeaway nights went from 2 a week to maybe 2 a month.
Downsides: you eat lentils more than you planned, and the freezer is now 90% containers. Still worth it for us.
