Do long games still respect our time, or are we just used to padding?

I've been thinking about this while doing delivery shifts and only having an hour or two in the evening. A lot of the big open-world games I start, I never finish. Not because they're bad, but because by hour 40 I've forgotten why my character cares about anything.

Then I play something like Portal 2 or Inside, finish it in a weekend, and remember it for years. I'm not saying long games are bad. The Witcher 3 earned every hour for me. But I feel like the industry treats '100 hours of content' as a selling point by default, and I'm not sure who that's for anymore.

Do you finish the long ones? Or is it just me with a graveyard of 30% completed saves?
