how is a Seoul museum out-drawing everyone except the Louvre and Vatican??

Genuine question, not a roast. 6.5 million people went to the National Museum of Korea last year, about 1.7x the year before. Kyunghyang is calling it World No. 3.

And part of the story is apparently the gift shop? 40 billion won of merch, boosted by K-pop Demon Hunters. So is the museum popular or is the tote bag popular. Asking as someone who owns four museum tote bags and has seen maybe two exhibits.

Anyone been? Is it worth a whole day or is it a merch run with some pottery in between
