A nurse's guide to staying healthy in a warm, wet autumn

Many places had a warm, rainy October this year, so some reminders from the ward.

Mold: damp walls after floods or long rain can trigger asthma. Dry and ventilate, and don't sleep in a room that smells musty. Mosquitoes: standing water after rain means more breeding. Empty pots, buckets, old tyres. Dengue cases often rise after the rains here. Food and water: after flooding, boil water if you are unsure. Feet: wet shoes all day leads to fungal infections, change socks.

Nothing fancy. Just the things we see patients for again and again.
