[Help] are heat pumps actually worth it in an old UK terrace?

Everyone keeps telling me to get a heat pump. My house is old, draughty and my boiler is on its last legs.

Genuine question, not trying to start a fight: has anyone done this in an older house and was it worth the hassle? Or is it one of those things that only works in a new build?
