How do other countries celebrate their festival of lights?

Diwali is coming soon in India, the houses are being cleaned and painted, diyas and lights bought already. I know many religions and countries have their own festival of light in this season. Hanukkah, Loy Krathong in Thailand, and the Christmas lights of course.

What is the light festival in your country? Do you also clean the whole house before, or only Indian mothers do this?
