Animals on money vs famous people on money: which is better?

The banknote post made me think about this more than I expected. The UK picked a bee, an owl, a hedgehog and a puffin, and the post notes there was a backlash earlier in the year about dropping historical figures.

I can see both sides. People connect national identity to the faces on money, but they also argue endlessly about who gets chosen. Animals feel like a way to step out of that. Which do you prefer on your country's notes?
