GTA 6 launch trailer drops a month before release: a Justice single, The Keys and an ankle tag

Rockstar Games released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 on Thursday, October 15, ahead of the game's November 19 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Eurogamer said the footage was captured on PlayStation 5 and opens with The Keys, an area barely seen in earlier trailers, set to a new Justice single, “Flower in a Hurricane”, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

Eurogamer pointed to heists, a helicopter getaway gone wrong, a shower scene between the two leads, and what looks like an ankle tag on Lucia, hinting she may be on parole. It questioned the timing, with Rockstar's employment tribunal under way in Glasgow and a week of leaked footage from the hacker Cyberleek.

The Verge called it a brief 90-second clip that “doesn't reveal much new” but captures the game's Miami-inflected mood, and noted the game arrives 13 years after the last GTA. It quoted Rockstar's new story description.

“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them.” — Rockstar's description, via The Verge

How each outlet framed it

  • Eurogamer — clue-hunting, plus the awkward timing.
  • The Verge — a calm summary: little new, but the music and mood.
  • TechRadar — a deeper look at Jason and Lucia's story.
  • Beebom — India's view: a trailer of action and romance.

What we don't know yet: Whether Lucia's ankle tag matters to the story. Eurogamer called it a hint, not a confirmation, and Rockstar has not explained it.
