Dutch everyday cycling vs pro cycling, two different worlds

In the Netherlands everybody cycles, but almost nobody I know watches the Tour. People are surprised when I say that. For us a bike is like shoes. You don't watch professional shoe-walking.

But the pro sport is enormous here in other ways, cyclocross in winter is very popular. Does anyone else have a sport that is everywhere in daily life but not so big on TV?
