the chocolate in the oak tree

Of all the things in the Laurie Anderson news, the part I keep thinking about is her mother hiding chocolate bars in the fork of a big red oak in the park near the library, so the kids had 'extra incentive' to go.

I'm a stay-at-home mum and now I want to do this for my kids. Maybe not a tree, maybe the bookshelf. Did anyone's parents do little tricks like this to make you love reading?
