Cutting the weekly food shop: tips from someone who runs a corner shop

I've run a small shop in the Midlands for about eight years, so I see both sides of this. Prices are up for us too, but there are still ways to keep your shop sensible without living on beans.

A few things that actually work: check the price per kg label, not the big number. Look at the bottom shelf, the pricey brands sit at eye level for a reason. Frozen veg is fine, honestly. Reduced stickers go on near closing in most supermarkets. And don't shop hungry, I can always tell who did.

Happy to answer questions if anyone has them.
