Politics Talk

how I check if a viral political quote is real (short guide)

Nurse, Japan. I'm sceptical by default, and I got tired of seeing fake quotes shared in group chats, so here's my routine:

1) Search the exact quote in quotation marks. If only memes come up, be suspicious. 2) Find when and where it was supposedly said. Real quotes usually have a date and an event. 3) Look for at least one news outlet that reports it with context. 4) If the quote is too perfect for one side, slow down.

That's it. It takes two minutes and saves a lot of embarrassment.
