Dubs vs subtitles: the eternal war, but with data from my family

In Vietnam a lot of foreign shows on TV used to have one voice-over narrator reading all the parts, men and women, over the original audio. My grandmother still prefers it. My parents want dubbing. I want subtitles.

I think it depends on when you grew up and how fast you read. Kids today read subtitles very fast because of social media. What is normal in your country?
