Do young people still send summer greeting cards?

In Japan we have 'shochu mimai', summer greeting postcards asking about the health of friends in the hot season. When I was a teacher I received many from students. This year, only three, all from people over 60.

Is it the same in other countries with letters and cards? Do young people send something else instead? I am curious, not complaining. Well, maybe a little.
