as a doctor: please stop 'playing through' your weekend injuries
Spending Valentine's on a shift, so here's my love letter to all the weekend warriors. Every Monday we get the same guys. Rolled ankle on Saturday basketball, 'it was fine so I kept playing', now it's the size of a mango.
I know the no pain no gain thing is part of sports culture, and pros do it on TV, but pros have a medical team standing right there. You have a bag of frozen peas and vibes.
Not saying never push yourself. Just warm up, and if something pops, stop. Am I being too strict here or do people really think it's normal?
